Surrender Can Be An Act Of The Brave And Not Of Cowards

Giving up can be an act of the brave and not of cowards

Sometimes giving up is not cowardly, but brave. He thinks that giving up does not always mean lack of courage, but quite the opposite: courage, prudence, emotional intelligence. What’s more, in some life circumstances the courage needed to put an end to an end is greater than that needed to continue the story.

Stopping resisting can be a good solution and sometimes the only way out. And no, it does not mean that we submit to something or someone or that we run out of strength as the dictionary says. However, giving in to adversity is often judged by others as a negative act that portrays us as weak, if not as cowards.

Cowardice and prudence are two different attitudes

Almost by inertia many of us tend to qualify, label and confuse attitudes that could explain the same behavior. This is the case with being a coward and being cautious. Either of the two attitudes could explain why someone abandoned a project. However, if we find ourselves in this project, it will be easier for us to explain his departure out of cowardice to avoid a cognitive dissonance – a lack of synchronicity between what we do and what we think – annoying for us.

Virtually every new situation, responsibility or change carries a fear, minor or major, and we are all aware of that fear when we are there. However, there are people who, above that fear, value that continuing is a bad option for them and that is why they are not cowards. In fact, in many cases they are brave because it was perhaps easier for them to continue and the difficult thing was not to do what others expected.

A coward is the one who allows himself to be carried away by fear, the one who does not want to take any risk, the one who listens to his inner self and denies it, the one who accepts unhappiness as the price of comfort, etc. A coward, on the other hand, is not one who backs down, waits or surrenders at a given moment in his life because he considers that this is an intelligent response for his well-being.

Giving up is sometimes wise: we would be thinking about the possible risks of staying where we are and we would act that way so as not to receive any more unnecessary damage. What’s more, changing when something goes wrong is brave.

The difference between giving up and “enough is enough”

Change may only come by throwing in the towel and deciding to take a different path. This happens because there is a fine line that separates the act of giving up and acknowledging that enough is enough: if we have already done everything on our side and there are no results, it is beneficial to give up and start over.

You can’t force something that doesn’t work. Nor is it lawful to force anyone to feel something they do not feel, nor is it profitable to try to achieve something for which we are not formatively or psychologically prepared … Goals sometimes come at a bad time or are impossible: that something does not work well too part of the mystery of life.

If we have tried and fought but we are aware that it no longer makes sense to continue doing so; Why go on? So surrender is an act of loyal and noble consideration in which we take into account the most intimate “I”.

If there is no reason, do not waste energy

The best energy used is that which we use cultivating the art of caring for ourselves or of caring for the people we love the most; on the other hand, the energy we have is limited. In this way, wasting strength in a useless and unprofitable way is to deprive yourself and those you love of some of that energy.

Fighting without a sustained reason is similar to hitting your head against the wall:. Meanwhile, we lose many other things that we really do have within our reach.

In short, if you are in a situation where continuing with any project, personal or professional, is not feasible, it may be time to ask yourself if it is best to leave it. Remember that giving up is not bad, on the contrary, it is always an acceptable option and in many cases intelligent that is far from marking a failure.
