The Change

The change

The Shift, whose original English title is The Shift , is a film by director Michael A. Goorjian. The main protagonist is Wayne Dyer, author of the famous self-help book Your Wrong Zones.

During the film, Dr Wayne Dyer will act as a spiritual teacher and guide to people he meets at work. Through talks and experiences, he will pretend that they realize that life is not a river that follows the current. Its goal is for everyone to find their own way and discover their “true self.”

It will make them see that everything can regain meaning if we know how to listen to ourselves, if we dare to take the course that our hearts mark. We can all jump into making “the change” if we really feel that we are not where we want to be.

The three stories of The Change

Throughout the film three different stories will be seen. They are stories where their protagonists have lost the course of their dreams and feel empty in their lives.

A selfless mother

The first case is that of a mother so devoted to her family that she forgot to live her own life. For years he gave everything for the well-being of his family, but he left his dreams, his hobbies, his desires, his interests on hold … He realizes this throughout the film and he will learn to put remedies to recover his life again .

Every human being is a guarantor and deserves their individual space. In it, people fulfill ourselves, we self-fulfill, as opposed to massiveness. Spending time with yourself is essential. And those who do not do it due to overwork or having to attend to others will eventually end up feeling an emptiness in their life.

An unhappy marriage

The second case is that of a wealthy couple, accustomed to a high standard of living. They seemed to have it all, but they will realize that wealth does not bring happiness. We are not what we have. Otherwise, if one day we lose our belongings, we will be left with nothing. The couple will learn to value the little things. You will see that in the simplicity and in the small details of life the greatest wealth is hidden.

A dedicated professional

The third case is that of an ambitious film director, who forgot to live in the present and focused exclusively on his work. His future and successes, which were to come, were all the center that occupied his life. That desire to live exclusively for and for work, ends up letting the present moment escape, “the now”.

Rules for achieving wholeness

Change reminds us that a full life can be enjoyed. How?

  • Live consciously,  savor the present moment in its entirety. For this, you have to be here at this moment and not let the mind go elsewhere.
  • Put aside the ego, remember  that we are neither our job nor our wealth. When you live from the inside, from that spiritual being that focuses on how you are, without labels or belongings, it is when your well-being begins to flow within you.
  • Leave perfection aside.  We don’t have to be perfect. The human being is not and it is not necessary to be so to be happy.
  • You are not your reputation. If you live by what others think of you, you will lose your freedom. Everyone is free to think what they want and it should not affect your way of life. Reputation is something intangible, created by others, and to which we should not give greater importance. The essential thing is not what happens on the outside, it is what happens inside you.
  • Listen to yourself without judging yourself.  When making decisions, the ego tends to interfere, the perfectionist part that reminds us that “normal” is to do one thing or another comes to light. When we activate to be free from interference, everything flows naturally and with good feelings. This is where our true dreams reside.

Change is a movie to reflect on. It will make us wonder if we are where we want to be, if we really live or are we letting our dreams and happiness slip away. We are creators of our life and everything can regain meaning if we do something and guide it in our own particular and personal way.
