Are People On The Left Smarter?

“ Every day people fix their hair, why not the heart? ”. Sounds like a smart phrase to you? These words came from the mind of Ernesto Che Guevara, the famous revolutionary. There are many other epic sentences of this myth that have survived to this day. Does this have something to do with your left wing ideology ? A study from Brock University says yes.

According to the results obtained by researchers from the University of Brock, in Ontario, Canada, unintelligent people during their childhood have a right-wing ideology and create racist and homophobic tendencies compared to those on the left, which are more open and understanding.

To reach these conclusions, the researchers relied on two studies carried out in the years 1958 and 1970 in the United Kingdom. In them, the intelligence level of thousands of 10 and 11-year-old children was computed, who responded to political questions when they reached the age of Jesus Christ, 33 years old.

Among the questions to which the adult boys had to answer, they were asked questions about their prejudices when it came to being neighbors of people of a different race or their concern when sharing work.

Other questions to which the boys had to answer had to do with issues of conservative political ideology, such as toughening the penalties for offenders or showing children the need to obey authority.

Are people on the left really smarter?

The conclusions reached by researchers from Brock University show assertions such as that conservative politicians facilitate the appearance of prejudices, for example.

According to the researchers, as a result of the British research results, less intelligent people are positioned on the right spectrum of politics, since they feel more secure.

For the scientists behind this study, it is innate intelligence that determines a person’s level of racism, far beyond their education. Nor does social status play a basic role at this point. It simply says that conservative ideology is the way to turn kids with little ability to reason into racists.

Cognitive abilities are key to having an open mind. This means that those people who have low or very low numbers opt for conservative ideologies due to the sense of order it brings. This is another of the study’s conclusions.

Innate intelligence

In other words, according to research published by Brock University, innate intelligence is very decisive in the ideology that a person finally adopts. Does this mean that being on the right is synonymous with stupidity? Not much less.

Today, ideologies are a bit tangled in the world. Nothing is what it seems anymore. Can we consider a communist regime like the one they suffer in North Korea, on the left ? Finally, its people have become accustomed to living under the order of a dictator who calls himself a progressive ideology, but manages the destinies of millions with an iron fist.

There are other examples in the world where they have tried to establish leftist and communist regimes with little success. Russia or Cuba ended up suffering enormous population repressions during the phase of the people’s dictatorship, which finally ended up being the mandate of a leader like Stalin or Castro with little access to freedom or thought.

Does this mean that there are people camouflaged among the world left who are really on the right? Could it be that unintelligent people who are really conservative have intruded into progressive ideology? There is no clear answer to these types of questions, since ideologies have less and less weight in a world that is driven by purely economic and partisan interests.

Actually, the important thing is to have an open and curious mind. Learn from all the people who have something to contribute to your life. Even those people you consider evil or stupid can show you the paths that you should not follow.

If you do not have an innate intelligence that leads you to open your mind, at least stimulate your emotional intelligence. Be sensitive to all kinds of trends and ways of being and live a full and happy life. As Ernesto Che Guevara said, if you are capable of having beautiful hair, you can also have a noble and beautiful heart.
